Education is delivered by local school districts and these should be accountable to the local citizens. The Federal involvement in education is just watering down the effort. Eliminating $80 billion is a serious improvement in federal spending. The delivery of tangible results from the Department of Education is lacking. Instead of consuming funding for education with academics and bureaucrats at the federal level, fund the local school districts. But there is no need for the federal department if we have local school administration. Instead of using the federal agency as a scapegoat tge local school administration should be held accountable for improving the quality of education. Too many cooks in the kitchen! Ditch the federal department and its waste.
The late, great Walter Williams wrote an alarming article several years ago about the sorry state of the schools in most big cities that have been dominated by Democrats for several decades. For example, Baltimore had some 13 high schools in which not one student in the entire school tested proficient in math! Think about that. And the results for reading and writing were not much better if they were better at all.
But the problem is that there is no corrective feedback loop. What is the Dept. of Education doing about it? As far as I know, they are focused on other issues, like racial preferences in college admissions, precisely to avoid accountability for the failure of those schools.
Until those school systems are forced to prioritize actual education, the problem will continue.
Didn't care for Trump but I'm in shock with all the great things he's done so far this term. Hopefully he is actually trying to leave a positive light on himself for future generations and isn't just using sleight of hand to continue the chain of self benefitting policies in the background that our "leaders" typically perform openly
Nothing is easier than spending someone else’s money, especially when seasoned with abundant rectitude and projected virtue
DRW....talking with Mark Hinaman some....I'm at Enercom now www.enercominc.com Hope the boys are thriving.
