Interesting and agree with your points, you are spot on. And you would be a great candidate and no doubt would do a superior job as Denver mayor.
Unfortunately the reason Denver (and Colorado) is the way it is, is because the voters voted for it. And they keep on voting for it, and either don't realize what has happened and will continue to happen, or they think it's ok, probably mostly the latter. It's all Dems all the time. All Dems on the city council, mayors office; Dems control both houses at the Capital with a near super majority in both; Dem governor, Dem AG, Dem SOS. Over 700 bills passed every session with total Dem control over every aspect.
GOP is in disarray, battle going on between true grassroots conservatives and moderate RINOs, and right now the RINO's are winning, and have been in charge of the party the past 20 years. So if you run you'll either have to run as a Republican and will have a minority of republican voters, about 25% of the voting population, or a Democrat, with about 35% of the voting population, and 40% independents. And independents have historically voted with the Dems. Colorado is California lite and moving to more the left every day. The CO GOP is run by RINO's, backed by some very wealthy people, who aren't truly conservative and would rather negotiate a few amendments to Dem bills than fight them. Check out Liberty Scorecard to see their voting records, it is a shit show, only a few true conservatives in the state House and Senate. Check out the Rocky Mountain Heist video on Youtube to see how the Dems took over.
But all this doesn't mean you shouldn't run and shouldn't try to change Colorado back to where it was before it turned blue. There are a growing number of grassroots true conservatives who are working hard and won't stop until Colorado turns red again and we stop this insanity. If you're serious, you might consider doing some research and talking to some experienced conservatives who know and can give you good advice.Let me know if I can help.All the Best, David.
Unfortunately the majority of Denver voters are too busy with other stuff to be fully engaged in reality and have had their brain rotted by the msm. They will "vote blue no matter who" and "stick it to the bad orange man and his GOP enablers" to virtue-signal their good progressive philosophy to their good progressive friends. I would love to see you run and take on the rot of this city but don't want to see you sell your soul to save all of these California transplants... :)
Your platform makes perfect sense to me, David. It sounds a lot like what Michael Shellenberger was proposing when he ran for governor of California in the recall election a few years ago. I voted for him, but unfortunately he had no realistic chance and ended up with only around 3% of the vote. Had he won, CA would be far better off. You may have a better chance in Denver, but knowing how to govern and getting elected are two different things, unfortunately.
The question is this what Denver resident's want? I moved out of the city 18 years ago for the same reasons here. Where I lived in Uptown had all of these problems.
Hickenlooper was the last mayor I remember that actually did some of these things. He was a businessman who ran on free parking on Sundays. He won.
I'm not sure someone with his background could win again. Maybe? It would be an interesting vote. I think the easier solutions would be to take some of these planks and run them as referendums and force the local government to address them. It maybe an easier route.
It’s been a minute since I’ve been to Denver. I heard rumors it was trying to match the quality of life in cities like Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, LA etc. So sad, it used to be famous for the Stock show and John Elway. Your city needs you ad so do many of your fellow citizens! Best wishes and I cannot wait to follow you on this journey to bring common sense back in vogue!
Visit Portland Oregon and compare to Denver, Portland has been doing "IT" longer. Then pick a similar size City in Texas or Florida or ? I think you'd make a great Mayor but your life expectancy would be reduced due to stress and frustration as just being Mayor doesn't mean any of 'this' will stop.
I’ve had friends cancel trips to Denver recently because they didn’t feel safe walking downtown. One of them said, “It feels like no one’s in charge anymore.” That stuck with me.
The frustrating part is how predictable this spiral has been: when public order breaks down and leadership won't enforce basic norms, families and businesses leave. And when they leave, cities lose their middle,not just economically, but socially. What’s left is polarization, both in who stays and who makes policy.
While so many agree with your platform and it is extremely desirable, there were more that voted for the current crop of immoral bastards in office. So eyes wide open, morality, integrity, and equal justice are not the status quo in politics today. Another example is Houston. The entire east coast is awash with this degradation. Chicago, Detroit, Seattle, Portland, all of California - disgusting city cores. Does it need to change? Absolutely! The country made a reversal of direction from Biden to Trump. Can it happen at the local level? Complicated by multiple local governments often with adjacent boundaries the granularity makes it more difficult which means a huge effort. The platform you propose is desirable, even admirable. It has my support. The question for your ponderance is ‘can I make it happen in Denver and recurring counties and tte state of confusion Colorado’?
All the best- you are talented and if you believe it - go for it!
This platform would have my support and the support of everyone I know. From left to right. Just added you on LinkedIn. If you decide to explore further let us know. I’ll be glad to give some grass roots support. I ran for school board a couple of years ago. Didn’t win but was a great learning experience. There is so much that needs fixing in Denver. I want to help.
If you decide to run, you have my vote. The only question is whether we’ll still be citizens of Denver. We’ve had enough of the nonsense and are actively reviewing alternate locations.
Campaign slogans...
DRW = Denver Rising Wonderfully
DRW = Denver Restoration Workplan
DRW = Denver Recovering Wisely
Absolutely want to see you on the campaign trail. Nothing scarier to other candidates than a well spoken genius that does not give a F. Sic 'em.
That platform would get my vote!
Memo to my friends in Denver: The dildo of consequences rarely arrives lubed.
Love it - make it happen DRW!

Go for it and perhaps the "Common Sense" people (or party) will win!!!!
Amigo, personally my opinion is that it’s a great idea! Go for it! Would also love to see you run for Governor in CO!
Your ideas make way too much sense, so it's hard for me to see how they actually get done!
