Legislature sidelined? More like intentionally abdicating responsibility. Time will tell, but I don’t have much hope for them to become functional any time soon. Congratulations on finishing year 1 and best wishes on the rest of the journey!
Love this: “…that purposeful wandering — when balanced with work that demands something of you — is where the magic happens. Full-time drift? You lose your edge. Full-time grind? That’s for the kids. But the space between the two… that’s a real thing”. …I have found the same to be true myself.
There’s a break in the summer calendar here between 6/21 and 7/19. The August calendar is yet to be determined but will have at least two-weeks clear. Or, September or next year? In any event, have a great family summer!
Totally agree with the drift! I had three unbroken weeks off and got involved in all kinds of new things but once I got back to work couldn’t keep up with most of them, even though I really enjoyed all. I’m now structuring work to try working for one year then taking a couple months off and so on 👌
The question on the legislature. How much can Trump get effectively passed, and what happens at the midterms? They are now 18 months away. The clock is ticking. And $9Billion codified from DOGE isn't going to cut it.
Given its just an extension of existing tax cuts, I'm not sure the benefit will be there. And what will be the level of pain received on the tariffs. This civil suit from 5 small businesses will be huge. Will the appeals court allow the tariffs to go forward or force a roll back? The fact that the internal trade court where one of the judges was a trump appointee and the another a Reagan appointee, I'm not sure the whole liberal activist court argument holds water. Its so bad that Trump is now going after Leonard Leo and the federalist society, his chief advisor on judges.

Congrats on completing your first year.
