That strange pull you feel is the gravitational force of what’s happening in Europe. And Sri Lanka. And Argentina. And China. And, even Texas.
Energy policy is failing at an accelerating rate and the gravitational pull towards a total implosion is stronger with each day. There is no “warp speed” to fix energy policy without condemning the climate change alarmists, voting en masse with those who favor “all forms of energy” and climate adaptation.
Focusing on Texas, we all remember the polar vortex of February 2021. Cold kills. Heat is uncomfortable. This is the warning shot for what’s coming this winter. With more than 35 GW of wind capacity, today’s forecast calls for 8% of wind generating capability. That’s roughly 3 GW of power on a day when power demand will be amongst the highest ever. Oops.
Meanwhile, since 2010 Texas has closed 20 coal plants. Colorado and Xcel energy have plans to accelerate the decommissioning of coal facilities here, including Comanche 3 which was built in 2010 and should last easily until 2070. The best part? They will charge consumers $1 billion in extra rates to capture their demand rate of return whilst rebuilding a grid to replace existing power with something that is intermittent.
What does that look like?
As a reminder, power is roughly $30/MWh across the US. For now.
Fortunately, our fearless leaders are tackling the huge issues of today with action and courage.
eu parliament votes 324-155 to condemn us supreme court overturning roe v wade
It will be a winter of discontent and it’s entirely of our own doing. Never forget… the science(TM) is settled and we will be taking no more questions. Don’t make me censor you. We are never wrong.
The amount of attention focused on cultural issues is a big sign of attempts to divert our attention from the fact that we're living in Wonderland, where people who are most likely sitting under an air conditioner running their computers are saying "we" need to cut off oil and gas as fast as possible. They can literally put their money where their comments are by turning off their power and helping the grid. Also, no EV charging for now - we're in a power emergency. Sit home and sweat.
It’s funny that EU parliament condemned US Supreme Court when 90% of EU essentially has same policy! Oh the virtue signals!! So now regardless of what your own policy is as long as you condemn another country for their policy that is the same you should be fine 🤔🤣
