Today is day 5 of sober January, and I've already lost 3 lbs, so we are starting 2022 on the right foot. Although, like most everything, it's just math and a material balance. Calories burned » Calories consumed = Weight loss. It's not hard. You just have to be honest that sour patch kids are not an essential mineral.
In my book "What the F@&K is Wrong with Everybody Else?" Chapter 1 is the easiest read in history. "Losing Weight. Eat less. Exercise more. Yes, it is that easy." My man William “Billy” Mitchell has lost more than 150 lbs following this approach since the summer. I was hammering on obesity as a co-morbidity (when CNN and Mainstream refused to fat-shame people for their own choices) and he wrote me and said "Man, I got to do something." Of everything that I've got from LinkedIn over the last 3 years, his success makes me most happy. He took personal responsibility, took action, and made a life change. We can all be inspired by his choices.
Of course, when I evaluate my own battle with weight, which is real, I can point to 3 factors in my race to 230 lbs and then back down to 205 cycle that has occurred at least 4 times since 2009. Lack of prioritizing exercise. Not being mindful on food (caloric consumption). And drinking too much. It is the last point that mathematically causes all the issues and as a data guy, I can't hide from numbers.
When a doctor asks "How much do you drink a day?" I tell them not to do their usual math and multiply what I say by 3... it's a lot. And it's the calories that I can easily give up. Hence, sober January to kick start 2022. If you want to join me, DM me, and I'll be your emotion support tubby....
In 2022, it's time 'we the people' say "The Government is not supposed to solve our problems, it's supposed to build infrastructure, provide for the rule of law, and prevent invasion." The scope creep has been insane. So I'm doubling down on my own personal responsibility for everything. I don't like censorship, so after this post, any substantive content will be at hottakeoftheday.substack.com, not on LinkedIn.
I also joined GETTR, and though I still don't like the "anon" accounts, which was always my primary beef with Twitter, I can't support platforms that censor any content, no matter how much I disagree with it. So, I encourage you to dump Twitter and join there too.
I was talking with a friend about climate change. We didn't share the same opinion. She thought the rich people should just pay for it, and that her taking action would be too little to make an impact. I disagree. The ripples from dropping a pebble in a pond, the wings of a butterfly somewhere, create massive impact somewhere else.
So this is my last #hottakeoftheday on LinkedIn. But, I'm not going anywhere. And if you want to make a difference, take your own personal responsibility and do something about it.
Completely understand your thought process David. I sometimes ask myself what these people are smoking, but we know the answer. When pharma companies are so ingrained in a society that they invest in every media outlet out there that gets any airtime, this is what you get. Interesting yesterday to have a look through the major investors of each and every one of these drug companies to see their majority ownership (blackrock, vanguard, berkshire hathaway; whose major investor is the bill gates foundation). Not surprising when shit is like it is. Its been allowed to happen
Good knowing where to find you. Hope to be updated on your getting back into fighting trim. Congress has abrogated its lawmaking responsibility so as to avoid tough issues that may cause them to lose an election. I would love to know the staffing levels, budgets and TENURE of those leading the 150 federal agencies run by unelected lifers that make laws....er..."regulations." Bigger govt = more complexity = less accountability.
