Last week, I predicted we would have a 2 mm case day for COVID. LinkedIn didn’t like that, and took down the post for spam and scam (whatever that is). Yesterday, 1.1 mm cases were reported.
Ironically, there may not be enough tests but as I’ve suggested for 22 months, statistical samples (like the Diamond Princess or the NBA) where random samples (or full samples) are taken from a population and then used to determine where we are at is far better than testing people continually, or worse, leaving it to a lady in a bathroom on a flight to Europe to test herself 7 times before a positive test in the 8th and quarantining herself in the bathroom (yeah, that happened).
Fortunately, Kent Denver has done just that! They are requiring all students test for COVID before tomorrow and yesterday, with 300 tests reported, “more than dozen asymptomatic cases were found.” I’ll remind you, the school is proud that they have a 97% vaccination rate amongst students, and nonetheless, they have north of an 8% positivity rate.
To be clear, none of the kids had any idea they had it as all were asymptomatic but now, they enter a 5 day quarantine and can’t got to school this week.
Let’s apply this to the whole country as it’s a solid statistical sample set. So, it implies that north of 30 mm people would test positive in the US today and shut down every service industry we have. Hospitals. Airports. Hotels. Trucking. Shipping. Grocery stores. 8% of the country couldn’t come to work this week, most with no symptoms.
When will politicians wake up and stop testing low risk people when, in virtually all cases, there is nothing to do for the “patient.” It’s beyond insane. But welcome to the present day where logic need not apply

Interestingly, I have a friend who works at Baylor Medical in Dallas and they were recently told that if they are triple vaccinated and were exposed to C-19, they do not have to quarantine. Go ahead and come into work. Additionally, if they are vaccinated and are showing "slight symptoms" they can go ahead and come into work. This all makes zero sense and I love how "rules" don't apply to everyone. Hail to the vaccinated. Ridiculous.
